Privacy

This page explains what little information this website collects, and how I handle the data inside the apps I build and host. It is written in plain language on purpose. If anything here is unclear, ask me and I will explain it.

What this website collects

This website is deliberately quiet. There are no analytics, no advertising trackers, and no third party cookies watching you read it.

The only information I collect here is what you type into the quote request form: your name, your email address, and whatever you choose to write about your project, including the budget range you pick. That form is emailed to me so I can reply to you. An AI service (Anthropic's Claude) helps me read and summarize each request, and it does not train on what you send. Nothing else is gathered in the background.

Like almost every website, mine sits behind Cloudflare, which processes basic connection information, including your IP address, to block attacks and keep the site online. That is a security function, not tracking, and I do not build profiles from it.

I keep what you send only as long as I need it to answer your request or carry out work you hire Lazarus Labs for. If you would like it deleted sooner, just ask.

The apps I build and host for you

When I build an app for you, the app and its data are yours. That is the core promise of Lazarus Labs, and it decides how I treat your information:

  • I do not sell, share, rent, or mine your data, and I never will.
  • I do not access the data inside your app as a matter of course. The only time I would look inside is when you ask me to, for support or maintenance, and I keep that access as small and short as the task needs.
  • You can export everything, in open formats, at any time.
  • If you leave, your data goes with you and I delete my copies. I keep a backup for at most 30 days, and only if you ask me to.

This holds whether the app lives on your own computer or on a server Lazarus Labs hosts for you. When you self host, your data never touches my hardware at all.

If your app collects information about your own customers

Some of the apps I build are for a business that wants to keep track of its own customers, members, or users. If that is you, here is how the responsibility divides, in plain terms.

You decide what information gets collected and why. In privacy law that makes you the controller of that information. Your customers are your relationship, so you are the one who owes them a privacy notice, and who is responsible for collecting their information lawfully and with their consent where that is required.

Lazarus Labs' role is narrower. When Lazarus Labs hosts the app, it acts only as a processor: it stores and runs the software you own, on your instructions. Lazarus Labs is not the owner of that information, does not decide what you collect, and never uses it for anything of its own.

To keep this clean and safe for both of us, there are kinds of data I will not take on:

  • Health or medical records covered by HIPAA.
  • Apps aimed at children under 13, which fall under COPPA.
  • Regulated financial records.
  • Card numbers. Payments always run through a dedicated processor such as Stripe, or a Bitcoin processor, so full card data is never stored on a server I run.

If your idea needs one of these, I will tell you honestly rather than take on something I cannot host responsibly. Often there is a simpler shape for the app that avoids the problem entirely, and I will help you find it.

Cookies and tracking

This site does not set advertising or analytics cookies, and there is no cross site tracking. If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, there is nothing here for it to switch off, because the tracking was never turned on. An app I build for you follows the same spirit: the only cookies it would use are the ones that keep you signed in, and only if it needs a login at all.

How to reach me

If you want to know what I hold, correct it, or have it deleted, send me a note through the request form on the home page and tell me what you need. I answer in writing, usually within three business days.

Because Lazarus Labs is run by one person, entirely remotely, writing is how I work. It also means there is always a record of what was asked and what was done.

Updates to this page

I may update this page as the business grows or the law changes. When I do, I will change the effective date at the top. This policy describes how I actually work, and I keep it honest and strict on purpose.
